About Adult Literacy Action

The mission of Adult Literacy Action Penn State Beaver is to foster education for all people through advocacy, research, training, and outreach, and to provide state-of-the-art instruction to under-educated adults so they may acquire the basic skills necessary to function in society.

Adult Literacy Action works in Beaver County to:

help educationally disadvantaged adults improve their basic skills in reading, writing, comprehension and mathematics via well-trained volunteer tutors and professional staff;
provide advocacy for and education about adult literacy needs to the community;
provide service and support via well-trained professional teachers to business, industry, human service agencies, families, foreign-born residents, and the ongoing volunteer program;
serve, in cooperation with Penn State University and other appropriate entities, as a national field laboratory for state-of-the-art developments
