Redefining Literacy: About Adult Literacy Action
Background History Vision Values Purpose

For more than 30 years, Adult Literacy Action Penn State Beaver has helped Beaver County adults improve their basic reading, writing and math skills.

Since 1978, Adult Literacy Action has been helping Beaver County residents gain skills essential for success. These skills are taught through Adult Literacy Action's well-trained network of professional instructors and volunteers.

As our learners' needs have changed, Adult Literacy Action has expanded its services to meet those ever-increasing needs. Free instruction is available to adults privately and at learning centers conveniently located throughout Beaver County.

Adult Literacy Action helps adults develop or improve skills in reading, writing, math, English for Speakers of Other Languages, family literacy, job training and workforce education.

If you know someone who needs to improve basic skills, or if you would like to volunteer your time to help others unlock their full potential, please contact Adult Literacy Action at 724.773.7810.

Our Mission: The Mission of Adult Literacy Action of Penn State Beaver is to foster education for ALL people through advocacy, research, training, and outreach, and to provide state-of-the-art instruction to under-educated adults so they may acquire the basic skills necessary to function in society.
